The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye has bemoaned the bad attitudes of some Ghanaian leaders and Ghanaians as a whole.
Apostle Nyamekye also lamented about the attitude of some Ghanaian pastors who he said spend preaching about unnecessary things instead of spreading the gospel.
He also took a swipe at chiefs who sell lands to multiple buyers.
Apostle Nyamekye was also unhappy about political leaders who engage in corrupt activities.
He lamented that despite Christians making up about 70% of the Ghanaian population, corruption is still on the rise; an indication of a corrupt society dominated by Christians.
He called for a complete change of mindset to help address such attitudes.
Apostle Nyamekye made the call when he addressed hundreds of members of his church, chiefs and politicians at the Asokwa Area assembly in Kumasi during the church’s launch of the church’s Environmental Care Campaign programme in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The campaign which was launched in Accra last year bears the slogan: “My Environment My Responsibility”.
Apostle Nyamekye told the congregation that the church as part of its civic responsibility is in partnership with Zoomlion Ghana Limited to ensure that the environment is kept clean at all times while tree planting is incorporated beginning from the church for a green revolution in Ghana.
He said the Church of Pentecost will partner with government to provide facilities to decongest Ghana’s overpopulated prisons, build CHPS compounds in selected communities and drill boreholes in partnership with World Vision in some selected communities across the country.
The Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive, Akwanuassah Gyimah who also spoke at the event said was grateful to the Church of Pentecost and Zoomlion for the initiative.
He said government will continue to support the church and Zoomlion to ensure a clean society.
