Former National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei has passed on.
Dr. Adjei died at the Ridge Hospital in Accra this [Tuesday] morning, three days after marking his 76th birthday on March 9, 2019.
Dr. Adjei graduated with a PhD (Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, U.K in 1973.
He entered politics in 1978 and was elected as a Council Member of the Jasikan District Council in the Volta region.
He subsequently served as Member of Parliament for the Biakoye Constituency from 1993 to 1996. He was re-elected in 1996 and served in that position till 2004.
He also served as First Deputy Majority Chief Whip from 1993 to 1994.
In 2005, he became the National Chairman for the NDC and served in that role till 2014 when he was unseated by the then National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management (NADMO), Kofi Portuphy.
He was instrumental in stabilizing the governance of the Volta Region where appointee changes had become the order of the day and a destabilizing force in the Volta Region before 1987.
