President Nana Akufo-Addo in his speech on the 62nd Independence anniversary pledged to rid the country of all forms of political violence.
Aside from touching on security matters, he urged Ghanaians to value the country’s diversity.
“When we celebrate the independence of Ghana, we celebrated the strength that comes from speaking with a united voice. We celebrated the coming together of different peoples to make the united and strong nation of Ghana.”
The parade was held in Tamale, the Northern Region capital, for the first time.
The government said the 62nd Independence Day was being held there in commemoration of the Dagbon unity.
