Three out of the 12 suspects who were declared wanted in connection with the shooting and resultant murder of one person at the Ashanti Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have turned themselves in at the Ashanti Regional police.

[contextly_sidebar id=”oxev21KIdNLEAtaycOFq0sd4wkgPiAC9″]The suspects are 40-year-old Dauda Ibrahim alias Wayo, Abdul Ganiu, 37, and Samuel Agyin alias Rock who is 32 years old.

The three reported themselves to the regional police on Thursday [February 28, 2019].

Their lawyer, Evans Amankwah in a Citi News interview said he led the suspects to turn themselves in on Thursday and statements were taken from them upon their arrival.

“I brought three of them here yesterday, their statements were taken  and they were kept in police custody. So I came here to secure bail for them because they were to go court today [Friday]. So being a Friday, I think it will be appropriate if the police granted them bail,” he added.

He said his clients deserved to be granted bail since they had shown good faith by voluntarily reporting to the Police.

“My clients have shown good faith by coming in voluntarily so once they have done that, the police should also show good faith by granting them bail and when they are needed, they will come.”

Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer, of the Ashanti Regional Police command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo at a press conference on the matter said the police are still on the heels for the remaining suspects and expect them to turn themselves in as their colleagues have done.

“The police are still pursuing the remaining suspects. They are strongly advised to report in their own interest. The general public is again being urged to volunteer information that can lead to the arrest of the other suspects.”

ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the three suspects who have turned themselves in are currently assisting the police to investigate the matter.
