Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives of the Keta constituency in the Volta region are demanding the removal of the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Keta municipality.
Godwin Edudzi Effa is wanted out of office on grounds that he is a native of the newly created Anlo Municipality, a situation the executives say make him unfit to manage the Municipal Assembly.
They also argue that, the people who used to marginalize the residents of Keta when both Keta and Anloga shared the Keta Municipal Assembly managed to influence the nomination of the MCE to satisfy their parochial interests.
Mr. Effa, a onetime finance officer for the Anloga constituency was appointed by President Akuffo-Addo following the transfer of Seth Yormewu from the Keta Municipality to the new Anloga Municipal Assembly.
Meanwhile, the NPP executives have taken to the streets vowing not to work with Mr. Effa saying he is not a grassroot member of the party who will not further the course of the party within the constituency.
Presenting their petition to the President through the Volta Regional Minister, convener of the executive group, Kissinger Gbemu said they will go at all lengths to resist Mr. Effa’s appointment
“We the sons daughters of Keta who belong to the New Patriotic Party want to tell Nana Addo whom we know is a listening president to remove Mr. Effah because we don’t know him and so cannot work with him. Nana Addo should remove him otherwise, we will advise ourselves” Mr. Gbemu warned.
