“By this release, we are appealing to government, to expedite the process and if indeed Charles Bissue is guilty the laws of the land should take its course but if Anas is also buying time to delay the process, he should be impressed upon to respect the state agency by submitting himself to authority and made to follow due process.”
The executives in the statement signed by the NPP’s Western Region Chairman, Francis Ndede Siah, said they vouch for Mr. Bissue ’s impeccable values both at the National and the Regional level.
According to the executives, the Tiger Eye PI’s documentary was a ploy to ruin Mr. Bissue’s reputation.
The executives are also calling out Tiger Eye PI to produce the unedited footage of the documentary which it claims it has.
“We as Regional Executives, move to add our voice to the numerous calls by all well-meaning Ghanaians that Mr Anas Aremeyaw Anas should produce the unedited footage for the security agencies to carry out the necessary investigations. In as much as we would not condone any acts of corruption, we as Regional executives and Ghanaians for that matter seek to see the matter finalised, and more importantly knowing who Bissue is, that’s why we have added our voice today.”
The Western Region executives in the press release said they are of the strong belief that Mr. Bissue is innocent.
In February, Presidential Staffer and Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on illegal mining (IMCIM), Mr. Charles Cromwell Bissue was indicted in an exposé by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
In a documentary released by Anas, Mr. Bissue was captured accepting money ostensibly to facilitate clearance for a mining company without going through due process.
He is heard in the video instructing his subordinates to fast-track the processing of the company’s documents.
Several others connected to the work of the committee, otherwise known as the Presidential Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, are seen in the video playing “facilitating” roles at negotiated fees.
Bissue is currently helping the police to investigate the case.
