Busy Internet has provided internet services to four district police commands in Accra as part of efforts to help the service carry out its mandate of fighting crime in the capital.
The four are the Adenta, Madina, Kaneshie and Amasaman district police commands.
The support, provided by Busy Internet to the four stations as part of its corporate social responsibility, will initially run for a period of one year.
According to the Head of Marketing at Busy Internet, Thomas Brien-Mensah, this move will “go a long way to helping the police keep the public safe and help fight cybercrime, among other things”
“Not everything is pen and paper anymore and this is our way of supporting the police.”
Speaking on behalf of the four Police Commands, the Kaneshie District Police Commander, ACP Faakye Kumi thanked Busy Internet for the gesture.
He added that the internet services, which have already been installed at the stations are “working effectively.”
“The speed is good. The facility is good. Thank you Busy for the gesture”
‘Support the police, support the people’
Speaking to citinewsroom.com Thomas Brien-Mensah said Busy’s decision to provide internet services to the police commands was part of a larger idea of keeping Ghanaians safe and improving their general well-being.
The company believes that with a more effective and efficient police service, there is a greater sense of security amongst the public.
“Security has a huge impact on the Ghanaian society. By making the police work more efficiently, it helps them protect the Ghanaian society, as well as improves the processes at the station. Right now it takes a lot of time for things to be done, the processes can be cumbersome and the Ghanaian person who needs help becomes frustrated. The police are there for everybody supporting the police, we’re supporting the people.”
He also stated that the company plans to extend its services to other police commands before the end of the year.
“We’re hoping that before the end of the year, we’ll have a few more stations on board. In the next month or so, there’s another one that could come up.”
Staying competitive
While 4G internet services have become commonplace, Busy Internet is planning to stay ahead of the curve with its fibre and satellite connectivity for Small and Medium Enterprises.
“Aside 4G, we are focused on the SME and enterprise space. It’s been one of our core focuses even before we launched 4G. SMEs and corporate enterprises need super fast internet at their offices and other outlets so we’ve deployed fibre as well. This year, we’ve also launched satellite connectivity as well and anywhere you are in Ghana, you can connect to Busy,” Mr Brien-Mensah said.
