The case involving an assault on a 17-year-old boy by municipal guards of the Agona West Municipal Assembly has moved for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The victim was attacked by two municipal guards of the Agona West Municipal Assembly in the Central Region region.
It would be recalled that there was a video on social media last month where two municipal guards were caught assaulting 17-year old Kwame Teboah, a head porter by kicking him in the head while he was on his knees.
The video, which went viral, sparked a public outcry for the city guards to be punished.
The referral of the case from the Swedru District Court to ADR comes after the counsel for the accused persons, Frederick Selby appealed to the court that the families of the accused persons have begun to financially support the victim and are taking care of his medical bills
Swedru Municipal guard who kicked boy’s head arrested
Last month, the Swedru Divisional Police Command arrested and placed in custody, Peter Danso, a municipal guard of the Agona West Municipal Assembly, who assaulted Kwame for allegedly stealing money from a mobile money vendor.
Superintendent Seth Yirenkyi, the Swedru District Police Commander, indicated that the suspect was arrested per the orders of the Inspector General of Police.
One of the accused who was detailed by the Municipal Assembly to collect tolls at a Lorry Station in Swedru, attacked the boy after a mobile money operator (name withheld) reported to him that Kwame had stolen his money.
The city guard in the video was initially mistaken for a police officer but the Police Administration, in a press release, denied it saying the offender was a municipal guard and that the case was being investigated.
