Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Enoch Nana Yaw Oduro-Adjei better known as Trigmatic has made an appeal to the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) to take seriously the business of collecting and distributing royalties for artistes in Ghana.

He believes the time has come to move on from the old structure and way of doing things.

The outfit which is responsible for monitoring, collecting and distributing royalties have in the past complained about a lack of funds with which to carry out their duties.

However, speaking to Citi News, Trigmatic stated that GHAMRO’S issues extend beyond a lack of funds.

“The absence of modern appropriate technology to carry out royalty collection and its other sub-branches are direr,” he explained.

“As an entity, they haven’t really worked on technical ways of collecting royalties. I believe these things are really easy and there are people within the private sector that are willing to help them,” Trigmatic added.

He expressed hopes that GHAMRO will institute the cue in a system where once it’s played there is a system that records and shows that it was played at this time.

Trigmatic further intimated that in recent times people use the internet a lot; if the radio station is on tune in it can be tracked and traced.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) has announced that plans are far advanced in working with Qisimah, an online data collection company to monitor music played by radio stations.

The Rapper has also announced that he will be releasing his fourth studio album “Eighth Element” this year.
