Hearts of Oak head coach, Kim Grant, has admitted that his players could not get themselves together in the initial stages of their match against Dreams FC in the opening round of the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
Hearts eventually won the match by a second half goal from Kojo Obeng Junior leading to some great reviews from observers of the game.
Speaking after the match, Grant revealed that the players were edgy as the game started since they were tasting high-profile competition for the first time in a while.
“I think it was not about how we played on the day. I felt that since it was the first game, there was some apprehension and nervousness.
It was always going to be difficult when we had no football for almost nine months. The players felt pressured to perform but they as they relaxed towards the end of the first half, you saw the dynamism on the flanks.
We started well in the second half and we got the goal and we went on from there. I feel the players will feel more relaxed now and we look forward to Wednesday’s game against Elmina Sharks.”
Hearts will hope to keep their good start to the competition going when they face Elmina Sharks on Wednesday April 3 at the Ndoum Sports Stadium.
