Wisconsin University College opens broadcasting studio

The Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, has opened a new broadcasting studio to facilitate the study of media production and broadcasting at the University’s communication studies department.

The University, which is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast, and the University of Ghana seeks to offer training enable communication studies students to be abreast of current trends in media.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Obeng Mireku at the launch of the media studio said the vision was to develop a Media Centre of Excellence to provide exceptional professionals marketable globally in the media space.

“The Facility we are about to commission today is the latest acquistion in our quest to equip our classrooms and lecture halls with cutting edge technology. It is our that this faiclity will give our student not only a practical learning experience but also to provide them with a competitive edge in the globalised labour market. Thousands of dollars have been invested in this facility to mkae it the best in our sub-region to offer the most ideal learning environment to our students”

The Vice-Chancellor of the Wisconsin International University College also called on Government and policymakers to put in place measures to support the University when they back on such initiatives.

Present at the event was the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who also launched new ultra-modern studio at the Legon campus of the University.

In her address, the Minister of Communications said although the frequency for radio stations in Accra are all almost used up, she will work towards getting a community-based radio frequency for the school.

The newly launched media broadcasting studio is endowed with a fully-equipped state of the art equipment including cameras with cutting-edge technology and a fully-furnished and equipped master control room.
