The Interior Ministry has for the 4th time since the beginning of the year, renewed the curfew on Alavanyo and Nkonya townships in the Volta Region, effective today.
The decision contained in a statement signed by the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery followed the advice of the Regional Security Council.
The move followed violent clashes in the area triggered by an over 90-year-old dispute.
Meanwhile, the government maintains that there is a ban on all persons in the two towns and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons.
The Ministry has thus cautioned that persons caught in violation of the curfew will be prosecuted.
The Ministry has also renewed the curfews imposed on three towns in the Northern Region.
The Ministry in a statement signed by the Sector minister said the decision was taken based on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council.
The affected towns are Bimbilla, Bole and Kpatinga and their environs.
In Bimbilla and Bole, the curfew times span between 10 pm and 4am as well as 8pm to 5am respectively while the curfew time for Kpatinga is from 12 midnight to 4am.
The curfew followed reprisal attacks emanating from disputes within the affected towns.
The Ministry further cautioned that any person found to have breached the directive will be arrested and prosecuted.
