Four persons are feared dead at Kormantse, a fishing community in the Central region in an explosion involving premix fuel belonging to some individuals in the community and the subsequent fire.
Some residents were forced to abandon their homes in fear of being caught up in the blaze.
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service were quickly called in to salvage the situation and prevent the fire from causing further destruction.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Saltpond Government Hospital.
Narrating the incident to Citi News, an eyewitness, Kwesi Arhin, said ‘there is one person in critical condition. The Fire officers were timely and saved the area from further destruction” Kwesi Arhin noted.
Though authorities of the Fire Service have not indicated the cause of the fire, some residents are blaming it on the negligence of a food seller wile other pointed fingers at some fishermen.
