The host of Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Umaru Sanda Amadu has left for Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire to take part in a Sustainable Development Reporting Course.
The training programme is being organized by the Africa Development Bank Group (AfDB) with facilitation from the Thompson Reuters Foundation.
The 3-day training would see Umaru Sanda and his 29 other colleague journalists drawn from the African continent undergo intensive training in development journalism.
“The Course is a response to the need to build the capacity of African journalists and will focus on increasing the role of the media in development” the invitation by AfDB’s Editorial and Media Relations Manager, Nafissatou Diouf stated.
Umaru Sanda, who won the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards in 2017 as the Best Reporter in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been passionate in his coverage of SDG Goal 6 which focuses on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in the country.
He is a member of the Media Coalition Against Open Defecation (M-CODE) and has previously won the WASH Media Awards organized in Stockholm, Sweden in 2014.
In 2018, the co-anchor of the CitiNewsroom on Citi TV was selected by the US Embassy in Accra as an International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) fellow where he joined about 50 other journalists from around the globe on a 3-week training in the United States of America.
Umaru Sanda Amadu has been with the Adabraka based Citi FM/Citi TV since 2010 where he has been involved in news production and anchoring as well as the production of award winning documentaries.
