Gospel musician Abena Ruthy has promised to help rebrand the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) when elected as the 2nd Vice President in the upcoming national election.
According to Abena who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Incredible Cleaning and Trading Services, new musicians, especially, find it difficult to locate avenues to help push their works whereas existing ones get stuck along the way for the same reason.
In the wake of this, she intends to use her expertise in the business field to help musicians to find their feet in the industry, to make the Union more attractive.
“My experience in advocacy, negotiations, communication and marketing makes me the right candidate for the 2nd Vice President position which has the core duty of taking up special initiatives as directed by the President or the National Executive,” she said.
She has successfully executed several activities as a musician and business person in the financial sector.
She is of the belief that, “MUSIGA should be able to change the lives of musicians,” stating that she will with the help of other executives re-brand the union to look more appealing and to bring on board all musicians who have not had a reason to join the union.
Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has set June 26, 2019, as the date for its national elections.
This year, members who are eligible to vote can do so at regional centres of MUSIGA across the 10 former regions of Ghana.
MUSIGA will elect a new president and national executives for the union after the term of the current executives under the leadership of Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour), which ends in May 2019.
Abena Ruthy and Deborah Freeman are the two candidates vying for the MUSIGA 2nd Vice Presidential position.
