The leader of the group Martha Machina told Citinews the rationale behind the donation saying “the donation follows some disturbing pictures on social media about the appalling sanitation of our alma mater”.
The Tamale Senior High School was ranked 51st position out of 51 schools in the 2018 Senior High School Sanitation and Hygiene League table by the Health and Sanitation Directorate of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council.
This according to Martha Machina does not befit the status of the school,
“the situation is bad for a pacesetter school to be seen at the bottom which our school certainly does not belong in such realms” she stated.
Ms Martha also used the occasion to announced that the year group will construct an ultra-modern volleyball and basketball pitch as part of their 20th-anniversary celebration next year.
She appealed to other year groups to take up the challenge of giving back to their alma mater
The Girls Prefect of the school Mohammed Abiba who received the items on behalf of the students assured the 2001 year group they will work to improve upon the state of sanitation in the school.
