The Minister of Communications and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has named her favourite musicians in Ghana.
Speaking to Jessica Opare Saforo on Citi 97.3 FM on Tuesday, she expressed her love for music, stating that as far as highlife music is concerned, she would always go for “the big three.”
“When it comes to highlife, I love ‘the big three.’ That is, Kojo Antwi, Daddy Lumba and Amakye Dede. I don’t know who comes first but I love them,” she said.
She explained that she appreciates the depth of the lyrical content and the rhythms of songs by these musicians.
But the women’s activist does not only enjoy music by the older folk. According to her, she also loves musicians from the new generation. She mentioned Bisa K Dei, Kuami Eugene and King Promise as those whose songs have made it to her playlist.
However, she stated that she is very choosy about what type of rap music she listens to because most of them do not make sense.
As someone who grew up listening to what she calls ‘mood music’ she expressed her fondness for songs by foreign musicians such as John Legend, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
