Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has presented a total of 109 vehicles to the Ghana Police Service.
According to the Vice-President, the presentation forms part of the Government’s measures to equip the police to enable them to deliver on their job.
Dr. Bawumia assured the police of Government’s continuous support to ensure the Police remains capable in protecting Ghanaians.
“The fleet forms part of government’s moves to equip security agencies with logistics and resources needed to effectively and efficiently discharge their duties. We will continue to assist the Police by providing the essential support the service needs in order to protect citizens and non citizens in Ghana.”
The vehicles comprise 16 buses, 5 towing trucks, 4 water tanks, 50 Toyota Hilux pickups, 5 ambulances, 10 Toyota V8s and 19 Toyota troopers.
“In all the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has provided to the police 481 vehicles since it assumed office in 2017.” A statement on social media read.
The vehicles comprise 16 buses, 5 towing trucks, 4 water tanks, 50 Toyota Hilux pickups, 5 ambulances, 10 Toyota V8s and 19 Toyota troopers.
Dr. Bawumia’s presentation earlier today follows a similar presentation by President Nana Akufo-Addo
In October last year, the President presented some 200 vehicles to the Ghana Police Service.
While presenting the vehicles, the President urged the Police Service to “pay particular attention to the proper maintenance of these vehicles and use them to serve and protect the Ghanaian people.”
The President also told the gathering that government had committed resources to procure kits, gears and quantities of other essential equipment, as well as more vehicles for the Police.
