The leadership of Parliament wants Members of Parliament (MP) to help enforce the security mechanisms in the House.
The is after a 35-year-old man attempted to commit suicide in the public gallery on Thursday.

If we breach the rules, quarrel with security men who prevent visitors we have not approved, how we will be able to assist us.”
“I have heard that often and when you trace and the person entered in the name of some other MP. Sometimes it is not about members or leadership who don’t care about the security of parliament. We are disabled because of our own conduct, he added.
Deliberations on the matter began after a question from Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak which was supported by other colleagues.
Builsa South MP, Clement Apaak, also called for pragmatic measures to address what he said was the seeming lack of security for legislators in the house.
“These are very challenging times and we need to be much more resolute in asking that our safety be prioritized and I want to call on leadership to take our security concerns very seriously.”
The man was in the custody of the Police at the Parliamentary Police post after the incident.
At the time, Citi News understands, was in Parliament to see his MP, Joseph Mensah who was not readily available to meet him.
The Commander of the Parliamentary Protection Unit, Supt. Freeman Tettey told Citi News the case had been referred to the Police for investigation.
