The New Juaben South Municipal Assembly has distributed some items and cash to Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Municipality to make them more self-sufficient.
The cash which comes from the Disability Funds under the District Assembly’s Common Funds is to augment the activities and efforts of the less privileged in the society.
The beneficiaries numbering 33 received the items and money from the disability fund and 23 of them also received cash prizes ranging from GHc 1,000 – GHc3,000.
Three persons received deep freezers for their sachet water business, five others received 10 complete plate containers for business and two students received payment for nursing training college and teacher training college fees.
So far 246 persons living with disabilities have benefited from the fund.
In an interview with Citi News after the presentation, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Isaac Appau Gyasi indicated that the assembly is committed to ensuring the wellbeing of PWD’s.
“President Akufo-Addo is committed to championing this agenda because they are in these conditions through no fault of theirs. When we empower and assist persons living with all forms of disabilities, we strengthen and help them have a strong voice to be able to live meaningful lives and be out of the street”.
