A suspected thief has been gunned down at Ahinsan Estate in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti region.
Paul Martey, a resident in the area reported to the Asokwa divisional police command early Friday morning that a lifeless body was found behind the wall of his house.
The police rushed to the scene to commence investigations into the matter.
Mr. Paul Martey disclosed to Citi News that one of his children noticed the lifeless body and drew his attention to it.
He stated that he believed the man was shot by someone and died behind his building.
After several hours of investigations at the crime scene, the police conducted a search at the complaint’s house and retrieved a gun which was taken to the Asokwa divisional police command.
The police have invited Mr. Paul Martey to the police station for further interrogations on the matter.
Speaking to Citi News, the Assembly member for the area, Nana Yaw Wiredu noted that activities of criminals were recurrent in the vicinity and called for security to be improved in the area.
Some residents who spoke to Citi News indicated that persons within the area were often attacked by criminals.
They added that on the average, they record robbery activities at least once in every two weeks and want authorities to take action to help reduce its occurrence.
The Police, however, declined to speak to Citi News.
The body of the man whose identity is not yet known was taken away by the police after 12noon when they had finished a series of examinations at the crime scene.
