Three persons have sustained injuries after members of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress in the Asawase engaged in stone throwing at the Asokore Mampong Municipal Office of the Electoral Commission.
Properties including vehicles have also been vandalized during the misunderstanding between both parties.
Both parties have engaged in disagreements over which applicant qualifies to register in the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise since the start of the process.
On Thursday, the exercise was temporarily halted after an altercation ensued between members of the two parties.
Friday evening’s development comes after EC officials and security heads in the Ashanti Region met the leadership of the parties in the Constituency to get them to control their members to ensure a smooth exercise.
The leadership on Thursday signed undertakings as a way of showing their commitment to a peaceful process.
One of the injured victims alleged that she was physically assaulted by Member of Parliament for Asawase when she intervened to challenge a young lady who claimed some applicants were being registered at midnight at the Municipal Assembly’s office.
The injured are receiving treatment at the Manhyia District Hospital after they lodged a complaint at the Asokore Mampong Police station on the incident.
Police had called reinforcement to maintain order at the scene.
