A Goaso magistrate court in Ahafo Region has remanded a 46-year-old palm wine tapper, Kwame Acheampong, to police custody for allegedly murdering his pregnant wife and son.
His plea was not taken.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector, Daniel Tawiah told the court presided over by Kwaku Twumasi that, the suspect lives with his 30-year-old wife, Akua Safia and his 1-year-old son, Kwabena Aseidu at Kokofu, a farming Community near Nkasiem in the Asutifi South District of Ahafo Region.
[contextly_sidebar id=”X769RYHxph6kHIMKpt76mh0huJooyu4D”]He said on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at about 6:20 am police received a distress call from one Kwame Kusi that the suspect has killed his wife and son with a knife.
He also said when police got to the scene, they saw the lady lying in a pool of blood with multiple cuts and the son’s throat was slashed with a knife.
According to the prosecutor, the suspect in his statement to police admitted the act but claimed that his action was premised on the fact that his wife has been cheating on him.
The prosecutor pleaded with the judge to remand him into police custody for further investigation.
He will reappear in court on 16th July 2019.
