The Ministry of Gender and Social Protection has called for the arrest and prosecution of General Manager of Echo Hills Village Orphanage, Rev. Lawrence Lamina for abusing children at the orphanage.
In his latest exposé, investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, Reverend Lawrence Lamina was captured abusing the children to the extent of drawing out a knife to stab one of them who had committed an offence.
The investigation also depicted how the orphanage sells food stuff donated to the home.
Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison told Citi News that social welfare workers have been sent to the home to monitor the situation.
“I visited the orphanage myself. I had a look at the place without them even knowing why I was there. You could see some of them were traumatized… Since they are sending our social workers there, there is going to be a difference.”
“Maybe we have to get a psychologist who would also talk to them and examine what is going on. We are also talking to our lawyers on what to do. We cannot close down the orphanage now because there are still children there. All those involved should be apprehended and questioned then we move from there but we are on the round table still talking.”
