The deadline for the first stage of the 2019 edition of Citi FM’s The Literacy Challenge has been extended to August 12, 2019.
The deadline for submission of essays under the selected topic was initially July 31, 2019.
The competition targeting Junior High School students requires students to submit an essay of 600 words or more on the theme: “In recent years, indiscipline on our roads has led to the loss of many lives. In light of this, write an essay, suggesting ways to solve this problem, in order to help Ghana’s economy to grow and develop.”
Participants are to add their full contact details before dropping their essays at the front desk of Citi FM in Adabraka.

The top 50 contestants following the submissions of essays will take part in an aptitude test to whittle down the number of contestants to 10 ahead of the grand finale where a grand prize of GHC10,000 is at stake.
The first and second runner ups shall be awarded GHc5,000 and GHc3,000 respectively.
The Literacy Challenge seeks to engage students in solving societal issues through writing to improve their skills.
As part of sensitisation efforts, Citi FM staff have been on a school engagement series to interact with students in their schools.
Students at schools like Englebert School, Vine Christian School and Kay Billie Klaer International School have benefitted from these engagements.
