“Ghana Hubs Network (GTBHN) consist of hubs in Ghana, (generic innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem enablers across the country) who have come together to use shared ideas and resources to develop human resource and equip innovative individuals with the requisite skills, build capacity to grow local innovations & businesses, enhance capacity for jobs creation and generate income.”
The hubs are all part of the Ghana Hubs Network (GHN), an alliance of 32 technology and business hubs that provide invaluable support and education to regional entrepreneurs. GHN was set up in 2017 to boost collaboration between the hubs and facilitate greater commercial innovation and opportunities within Ghana’s startup business ecosystem.
Given that these regional tech and innovation hubs serve as conduits to collaboration and mentorship, the tour will see a bus full of innovators and hub managers tour the country in 25 days, visiting a number of GHN hubs and entrepreneurs. The group will also run regional ‘hackathons’ to gather feedback to create a draft entrepreneurship act (legislation) in support of the current draft entrepreneurship policy. The legislation will be instrumental in stimulating and supporting commercial creativity in Ghana.
The main objectives of 25 Days of WOW Tour are to:
Engage local authorities (DCEs and chiefs) and corporate institutions to understand the impact of hubs, the work they do and the role they can play to sustain them
Foster stronger collaboration among the Ghana Hubs Network with a network-wide participation in locally organised activities by the individual member hubs
Promote the existence and roles of the Ghana Hubs Network and its international partners to all stakeholders across the country.
Organise and collate practical feedback key challenges facing entrepreneurs across Ghana via regional policy hackathons and town hall meetings.
Draft an Entrepreneurship Act through nationwide consultations and share with Government.
GHN organised the 25 Days of Wow tour in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), a German development agency and with technical support from i4Policy.
GHN’s mission is to advocate for the right policies for an enabling environment and help grow traction for our sustainable operations; and to lead the development of a cohesive and strengthened tech and business ecosystem in Ghana.
