The Police in Goaso in the Ahafo Region are preparing to put before court 46-year-old palm wine tapper Kwame Acheampong who allegedly killed his wife and one-year-old son at Kokofu.
The residents of Kokofu, a farming community were left horrified when the suspect Kwame Acheampong killed his wife and son.
Speaking to Citi News, Goaso District Police Commander, ASP Richard Hornuvo said the suspect who sustained injuries from a mob attack is recuperating in police custody.
“He was attacked by a mob, he was injured and fell unconscious. He was to the hospital yesterday. He has been discharged and he is fine now. But he is in our custody now. Beginning today or tomorrow he will be put before the court,” he said.
Last week, Police at Goaso in Ahafo Region arrested a 46-year-old palm wine tapper, Kwame Acheampong, for allegedly killing his pregnant wife and 1-year-old son, at Kokofu, a farming Community near Nkaseim in the Asutifi South District.
The suspect has for some time now been accusing his 30-year-old wife, Akua Safia of cheating on him and also alleging that the one-year-old boy, was not his son.
Goaso District Police Commander, ASP Richard Hornuvo who confirmed the incident to Citi News said it happened at about 6.20am on Sunday, June 30, 2019.
“We received information that a palm wine tapper called Kwame Acheampong, 46 years-old had murdered his wife and his one-year-old son. The wife is called Akua Safia, 30 years. When we received that information, we went to the scene and we saw the lady lying on a pool of blood. We saw her head, left arm and body with multiple cuts. As for the son, his throat was slashed with a knife,” the police said.
The bodies of the deceased persons have since deposited at the Goaso Government mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
