The co-founder and Director for the Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF), Dr. Yaw Okraku-Yirenkyi, has won the Best Robotics Paper Award in the United States.
Dr Okraku-Yirenkyi presented two papers titled the “Impact of the Robotics inspired Science Education Program on Education in Ghana” and “Design and Navigation Technique of an Underground Mine Inspection Robot”.
The award determination was made by judges from countries including Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Taiwan, UAE and USA.
Both papers were submitted to the Global Strategic Management Inc (GSMI) Conference held in Miami, US on June 21 & 22, 2019.
The presentation was delivered by Dr Yaw Okraku-Yirenkyi on Friday June 21, 2019.
Dr. Yaw Okraku-Yirenkyi is the Director of Studies at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT and has served in this position since 2008.
He is a member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers, Institute of Electrical/Electronic Engineers IEEE and Association of Computer Machinery. ”
His training and experience cover Electronics Engineering and Systems Engineering across; Ghana, Japan, US and the UK.
Some organizations with which he has worked include the Electricity Company of Ghana(Control Engineer), Kyushu Power Company, Kyushu Japan (Research Fellow), Cingular Wireless, New Jersey (Roaming Technology Analyst).
His current interests and research areas include Science Education, Energy Systems and Robotics.
