The Koko Toilet Roll factory at Gomoa Aprah in the Central Region has been gutted by fire after machines powering the factory exploded.
The incident happened at about 4 am on Friday when workers of the company were on duty.
According to some workers of the company who spoke to Citi News, the blast occurred as a result of the lack of water in the boiler room resulting in the blast.
“There was no water to power the machine and so it exploded… This machine is a boiler and it cooks the heat but there was no water inside so it became too hot and exploded,” a worker told Citi News”.
Adams a worker of the company explained that negligence on the part of some workers of the company caused the explosion.
“Someone failed to put water in the boiler and this caused the blast but we are also suspecting that the blast can also occur as a result of a fault in the pump,” Adams explained.
No casualties have been recorded so far but some portions of the structure housing the company collapsed.
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service were seen at the site trying to access the extent of damage done to properties.
