The management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has reactivated the hospital’s newsletter, website and social media platforms to improve its communication and relationship with the public.
The move according to management is also geared towards improving quality healthcare delivery at the facility.
The management has already setup complaints and enquiry desks in some key departments of the hospital to receive feedback from patients and other clients.
The hospital has also reintroduced suggestion boxes at strategic locations to allow internal and external publics to reach out to management on their concerns.
Speaking at a short ceremony launch the reactivation of the communication platforms, Chief Executive of the hospital, Dr Oheneba Owusu-Danso stressed that institutional growth cannot be sustained, effective and efficient communication of its operations.
He said the hospital had in the past made conscious efforts in deepening engagement with its stakeholders but was challenged due to lack of funding and executive support.
He indicated that apart from the reactivation of the newsletter and the website, it was the first time in the hospital’s history that an official Facebook and Twitter accounts were registered.
“It can, therefore, be deduced from this action that Management is indeed committed to engendering a strong engagement culture through the adoption of both traditional and emerging communication technologies”, he said
The editorial board will be chaired by a senior specialist at the Internal Medicine Directorate, Dr Collins Kokoro.
The CEO urged the board to work hard to sustain the platforms to enhance information flow at the hospital.
Dr Collins Kokoro on his part assured he and the other members on the board will ensure there is enhanced information flow between the hospital and its publics.
The newsletter is christened ‘KATH News’ while the other website has www.kathhsp.org as its address.
The other social media handles are www.facebook.com/kathhospital and www.twitter.com/komfo_anokye.
