The Police in the Eastern Region has begun investigations into the death of a police officer at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality.
The police officer who is believed to be a lance corporal was found in a chair on bank duty holding his AK 47 riffle with a bullet wound.
It is, however, unclear whether it was an accidental discharge of a weapon or he was killed by unknown assailants.
The Deputy Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Francis Gormado, said the “command is going to the scene to go and assess the situation.”
“But we can’t give details because much investigations have not been done yet. When we are able to gather all the information surrounding it ht whole incident then perhaps we shall actually talk about it. But for now, we don’t have much to say,” he added.
The deceased officers family is currently aware of his death.
