Prudential Bank Limited has called on stakeholders in the education sector and corporate institutions to support initiatives aimed at improving Ghana’s education sector.
Mrs. Akosua A. Boahen, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Prudential Bank limited speaking when the Bank donated a double cabin 4 by 4 pickup to be given to the first runner-up for this year’s Ghana Teacher Prize launched in Accra said the Bank believed recognizing the contributions of teachers would motivate them to deliver.
She said the Bank was of the strong conviction that education is the bedrock towards the development of the country.
She said Teachers play a major role in developing the human resource needs of the country hence the need to recognize their contributions.
“There cannot be quality education, an education that can produce a quality human resource for this country if we do not place a premium on the vehicle of education which is the teacher. The Bank is always of the view that the teaching profession is the mother of all professions,” she said.
Mrs. Boahen said the Bank as part of its corporate social responsibility would continue to support initiatives targeted at motivating teachers
She said that since education holds the key to the pace of Ghana’s development, the Bank had placed a high premium on it to ensure that the nation moves forward in a sustained manner to enable it to compete in the global village.
“The experience of other nations has shown that the type of education that is offered makes a great difference to the returns that a country gets,” she added.
Mrs. Boahen said the institution of the best teacher awards scheme had been a remarkable show of appreciation to teachers
She urged the teachers to abide by the rules and regulations by the Ghana Education Service to support quality teaching and learning.
The Ghana Teacher Prize launched by the National Teaching Council (NTC) will be held on October 5, this year.
The awards scheme is in recognition of hardworking teachers and their contribution to the improvement of teacher ethics and education outcomes in the country.
On the theme: Young teachers: The future of the profession, it will be held at the Paa Joe Stadium at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
