The National Road Safety Commission has partnered with Citi TV in the War Against Indiscipline Campaign.
According to the commission, the partnership will strengthen it ahead of oncoming Presidential assent to the National Road Safety Authority Law.
The law which was passed in Parliament in June 2019 will transform the National Road Safety Commission into an Authority to better regulate activities in the road transport sector.
Executive Director for the commission, Engineer May Obiri Yeboah in an interview with Citi News said the partnership will promote discipline on the roads and reduce road crashes.
“We as an institution will collaborate so that we can help reduce [road crashes] on our roads,” she said.
Hardly will you get a media house coming and saying that they on their own want to collaborate with you at no cost to you and I think it’s one of the happiest days of my live.”
The National Road Safety Commission of Ghana was established by an Act of Parliament (NRSC Act 567 of 1999).
The Act mandates the NRSC to play the lead role in championing, promoting and coordinating road safety activities in the country.
The main objective of the National Road Safety Commission is to plan, develop and promote road safety and to coordinate policies related to road safety.
