The Sawla police in the Savannah Region have arrested two suspected robbers who operate on the Sawla-Wa highway.
The suspects are Yakubu Haruna, 24 and Seidu Haruna, 18.
One of the suspects has been identified by one of his assailants.
The arrest is being viewed as a breakthrough in the fight against robbery on that stretch of the road.
According to a police statement, one Kwabena Baah who was driving a Guinness Distribution Kia Rhino Truck reported to the police that he had been attacked by two masked men while travelling from Tuna towards Wa.
The said men succeeded in robbing him of GHC 15,000 and a mobile phone.
The statement further indicated the police later received a distress call from Yipala village where some residents had detained two men loitering close to the robbery scene.
