Two persons have reportedly drowned in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.

The two were among a party of three who tried crossing the flooded Kulabil bridge between Pelungu and Sakoti using a tricycle after a downpour.

A rescue team from the Nabdam National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO) retrieved all the three but two were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Bolgatanga hospital.

Speaking to Citi News, Nabdam’s NADMO Coordinator Edward Ndanbon said: “we were able to retrieve two [of the people who drowned] in our first search, one survived, but unfortunately the other man Mr. Bagyoru Pyril was rushed to the Bolgatanga hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival.”

“We retrieved the third person, Madam Tambon Tangbil in our second search but she was also rushed to the Bolgatanga hospital and was pronounced dead.”

He added that the bodies will in due course be handed over to their respective families for burial.
