The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Weija Gbawe, Patrick Kumor has charged residents to pay their property rates and other levies on time to help bring development to the area.
According to the MCE, monies from internally generated funds and support from government has helped the assembly to embark on various developmental projects.
“To bring development to the people let me say it is also incumbent on the people to do their best and pay their property rates, building operating permit and other levies due the assembly so that together we can develop the assembly,” the MCE said.
Speaking to Citi News during a tour of some projects in the municipality, he indicated that the assembly will complete the 4.5-kilometre Gbawe Top base road that links the community to the main Mallam Kasoa highway.
According to Patrick Kumor, the project is part of a campaign promise made to the people in the Weija Gbawe constituency.
“The project is estimated to cost 14.7 million cedis and will be completed on time for use by the people of Weija Gbawe, the MCE said.
Aside the road project, other developmental projects being undertaken by the assembly includes a six-unit classroom block at Weija Gbawe cluster of schools, a concrete footbridge that links Bola to McCarthy at a cost GHc55,000.
The rest are a 16-seater toilet facility at the Ga South municipal hospital, the Mallam Guinness depot road, the Mallam Kokroko bridge including the Tetegu health Centre.
The MCE indicated that the various projects being undertaken by the assembly will be monitored to make sure it gets value for money.
“We will continue to monitor the various developmental projects to make sure we get value for money” Patrick Kumor added.
