Prof. Christopher Gordon, the immediate past Director of the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies has been appointed as Convener of International Organization for Standardization’s Technical Committee on Environment (ISO/TC 207/SC 2/WG 7).
Prof. Gordon’s nomination by the Ghana Standards Authority as the Chair of the Technical Committee on Environment was unanimously approved by the members of ISO/TC 207/SC 2.
WG 7 has been established to prepare a revision of ISO 14015:2001 “Environmental management – Environmental assessment of sites and organizations (EASO)”.
Prof. Gordon also received an invitation from Future Earth appointing him as a member of the Earth Commission, a team of experts tasked with producing a peer-reviewed synthesis of the latest science to underpin science-based targets. The Earth Commission is part of the Global Commons Alliance.
The core scientific objective of the Earth Commission is to provide a state-of-the-art synthesis of the quantitative boundary conditions for the biophysical processes and systems that regulate the stability and resilience of the Earth system, securing continued functioning life support systems (e.g. for water, land, oceans and biodiversity).
