The families of the four murdered Takoradi girls and a group calling itself Western Youth for Justice are calling for foreign investigators to help in unravelling the truth in the case.
According to the pressure group, the Ghana Police Service has on several occasions displayed incompetence in the handling of the case hence cannot be trusted with the results of the DNA test.
The group also claimed that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s “inaction is proof that he values ballot boxes than that of human lives.”
The convener of the group, John Entsie in his address said the police are trying to cover up their shame by peddling falsehood with regards to the death of the four missing Takoradi girls.
The group is also demanding the resignation of the CID boss, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, and the National Security Minister, Albert Kan-Dapaah.
“For the police to come and tell us that they discovered other bones which they suspect to be the girls, we see it as a fallacy, we see it as a cock and bull story to cover up their shame.”
“We will not accept the DNA test. We are demanding that a new forensic private investigators should come in to conduct this test. We will like foreign entities to take part in this because we don’t trust the Ghana Police, we don’t trust the Commander in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. Their inactions prove to us that ballot boxes are valuable to them than human lives.”
Discovered remains confirmed to be missing Takoradi girls’ after DNA test
The DNA test carried out on the human parts found in the vicinity of the suspected kidnapper’s home have been confirmed by the Police to be that of the four girls who went missing in Takoradi.
An announcement by the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh on Monday evening confirmed the death of the missing girls; Ruth Abakah, Priscilla Kuranchie, Ruth Love Quayson and Priscilla Blessing Bentum.
This was expected to bring closure to the over-one year search for the missing girls, but it appears the matter has taken a different turn with more agitations from the affected families
The Police added that further investigations revealed that the girls were victims of a “serial kidnapping and murdering syndicate that operated in the Takoradi area.”
