The top ten finalists in Citi FM’s The Literacy Challenge have begun camping at the Swiss Spirit Hotel in Accra ahead of the finale on Saturday, 14th September 2019.
As part of their camp, they will partake in mentorship sessions, tour the premises of Citi FM and Citi TV, tour the offices of Fan Milk and also attend a film screening at Silver Bird Cinemas.
The final 10 Junior High School students made it this far after excelling in the second stage of the competition, which was an aptitude test, last Friday.
The aptitude test was taken by 50 students.
The finalists will now be eying the grand prize of GHc10,000 during the final, which will entail a traditional general quiz competition that will test the students’ critical thinking, oral and numeracy skills.
The Literacy Challenge seeks to engage students in solving societal issues through writing to improve their skills.
The first challenge for students in the competition was a handwritten essay with a 600-word limit on the topic :
In recent years, indiscipline on our roads has led to the loss of many lives. In light of this, write an essay, suggesting ways to solve this problem, in order to help Ghana’s economy to grow and develop.
