The top ten finalists of the 2019 edition of The Literacy Challenge on Wednesday embarked on a familiarization tour of Citi FM and Citi TV.
This was part of scheduled activities lined up as the finalists gear up ahead of the grand finale on Saturday, September 15, 2019.
While on the tour of all the departments of Citi FM/Citi TV, the students were briefed on the day to day activities and roles of each unit to acquaint themselves with the station’s operations.
Heads of the various departments including — Programs, Administration, New Media, Traffic; Sales and others — interacted with the finalists and wished them well in the last stage of the competition.
The Literacy Challenge finalists will also be camped at the Swiss Spirit Hotel till the final.
As part of their camp, they will partake in mentorship sessions, tour the offices of Fan Milk and also attend a film screening at Silver Bird Cinemas.
Facilitators including General Manager of Citi FM/TV, Bernard Avle and Programs Manager of Citi FM/TV, Jessica Opare Saforo are billed to speak to the finalists on topics including leadership and success as a student.
The finalists will also be prepped and equipped for the grand finale.
They will now be eyeing the grand prize of GHc10,000 during the final, which will entail a traditional general quiz competition that will test the students’ critical thinking, oral and numeracy skills.
The Literacy Challenge seeks to engage students in solving societal issues through writing to improve their skills.
The competition is being supported by Fan Choco and Old Mutual.
