The Headmaster of the Berekum Senior High School, Ebenezer Kwagyir Ayensu is worried over poor infrastructural level in the school.
He has therefore appealed to the Old Students Association and government to expedite action to develop the school.
Mr. Ayensu’s appeal comes after the 2001 year batch donated 150 bags of cement to their alma mater, a move, which he commended and appealed to other year groups to emulate.
According to him, the school is faced with several developmental challenges ranging from the lack of school bus, library, assembly hall, staff accommodation classroom deficit and many more.
Mr. Ayensu added that one serious challenge has to do with litigation over the school land. According to him, this is making it difficult for them to fence the school to provide security for students.
Due to this, students sneak to town by using various routes that connect the school to the outside community and are sometimes attacked by gangs.
Some of the students also complain about the lack of toilet facilities in the school which is compelling them to ease themselves on a dilapidated local toilet covered with woods.
The various roads in the school get flooded anytime it rains. As if this is not enough, bedbugs have also taken over their dormitories making life difficult for them.
They have also appealed to government and other benevolent organizations to rescue Berekum SHS from their plight.
Samuel Asare Bediako, the leader of the 2001 batch said that they were surprised to see their alma mater still left undeveloped after several years of completing school and that informed them to assist the school that raised them.
He also appealed to his colleague old students to urgently stretch their hands to their alma mater.
