The President of the Association of Ghanaian Doctors trained in Cuba, Musah Swallah Salifu, says he and his colleagues are ready to sit for the licensure exams slated for next month, November.
The doctors are expected to sit for the exams later this month, October.
Musah Swallah Salifu, told Citi News that he’s confident they will pass the exams.
“The Dental and Medical Council says before we get posted we have to write the exams, so as at now we are trying to give them orientation for the exam. Take note that from previous examinations, the Cuban graduated doctors always come out top.”
Some of the 200 doctors had demanded the scrapping of the mandatory exams which will determine their integration into Ghana’s health system.
“There was a news item that the Cuban graduated doctors said they weren’t going to write the examination, I want to make it clear that it was someone’s opinion and thus false, we as a group are ready for the exam and will come out with flying colors because we know them. The official position is that we are ready for the exam,” Musah Swallah Salifu said.
There has been several calls on government and the ministry of health to absorb the Cuban trained Ghanaian doctors since they returned to the country a few months ago.
