As October is recognized worldwide for Breast Cancer Awareness, Ernest Chemists Limited on October 9, 2019 visited the Korle-Bu Breast Unit to make a donation to support some under privileged Cancer victims as well as the Unit in their mission to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.

The donation was done by the Ernest Chemists Limited team on behalf of the CEO, Mr Ernest Bediako Sampong and was received by Prof. Clegg-Lamptey, Consultant and Senior Specialist at the Department of Surgery.

The Brands Communication Manager of Ernest Chemists, Sharon Anim, expressed how committed Ernest Chemists Limited was to improving health care delivery in Ghana and the gesture is another way to demonstrate this commitment.

Sharon Anim added that, Ernest Chemists limited demonstrates its commitment to improving health care delivery daily through their mission of “Providing Quality and Affordable Medicine” and by offering free medical screening such as Blood Pressure monitoring, Body Mass Index (BMI) and patient counseling on medication in all its retail shops (Pharmacies) across the country.

The team expressed the delight of the company in partnering with the Korle-Bu Breast Unit and added that they look forward to growing a relationship to further partner and support the Unit in other activities regarding creating Breast Cancer Awareness.

Joining the group were the contestants of TV3’s popular cultural reality show Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB).

In addressing the contestants, the Brands Communication Manager indicated that, as beauty queens, it was important for them to be involved in such an event in order to use the platform, their influence and voice to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness.

All contestants were educated on Breast Cancer in a session led by Prof. Clegg-Lamptey.

“It is important to check your breasts, and anytime you find something, do avail yourself as the treatment is available” he said, and further added that breast cancer can be cured and as a matter of fact, there are so many survivors of breast cancer,” said Prof. Clegg-Lamptey

The Ernest Chemists Limited team, together with the GMB contestants presented a donation of GH₵ 10,000 to the Unit which was received by Prof. Clegg-Lamptey and his team.

This was followed by a short tour in the Unit after which the team, as well as the contestants of GMB underwent breast screening.
