President Nana Akufo-Addo has called on Chiefs, Traditional Leaders and the various Regional Houses of chiefs in the country to settle all chieftaincy disputes in their traditional areas.

According to the President, Ghana will enjoy an unprecedented level of peace throughout the country if various traditional institutions settle chieftaincy related disputes.

The President, who is touring the Eastern Region, made this call while commending Dasebre Prof Emeritus Oti Boateng, the overlord of New Juaben Traditional Area, for settling all chieftaincy disputes in the New Juaben Traditional Area during a visit to the chiefs palace in Koforidua.

“I am very happy that in New Juaben, there are issues here as a result of the good work of the Dasebre of New Juaben. I will also like to appeal to all chiefs in Ghana to learn from him when it comes to the settlement of disputes, among other issues, to enforce unity. If all chiefs could imitate what is happening in New Juaben, Ghana will be a peaceful country.”

Daasebre Prof Emeritus Oti Boateng, in turn, called on all politicians in the country to avoid hate speech and unwarranted attacks and unite in harmony to ensure the country develops beyond aid.

“Kindly permit me to advise all politicians in the country through your excellency to settle all political disputes among them. You will very much appreciate listening to debates on national issues if they focus on the substance of the issue under discussion rather than interventions that are full of insults and incinerations. There is an urgent need for all of us to get united so as to be better organized to be able to move Ghana beyond aid”.
