Some ten students of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) who were arrested on Monday after a clash between students and some teachers have been granted bail by the police.
The riot led to a teacher being hospitalized after sustaining an injury, whereas some public and private property were vandalized.
In an earlier interview with Citi News, the Manhyia Divisional Police Commander, ACP Kwaku Buah, said preliminary investigations revealed that the clashes occurred due to the failure of some students to comply with a directive to use the school’s official dress code during prep hours on Sunday evening.
Citi News understands that the police together with school authorities and parents of the affected students; are trying to resolve the matter amicably and that the students have not been charged yet as investigations continue.
There have been similar clashes that have led to the closure of some schools in the country.
Just recently, the Sandema Secondary Technical School in the Upper East Region was shut down for two weeks by the Builsa North District Security Committee after disturbances led to the death of one student.
