A Kumasi High court presided over by His Lordship Justice Frederick Tetteh has adjourned a case where a former presidential staffer, Manaf Ibrahim is challenging the decision of the leadership of the Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic party to suspend him.

Manaf Ibrahim, secured a court injunction in September 2019 to halt the electoral process which saw Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, Alidu Alidu Seidu, run unopposed.

Alidu Seidu was subsequently acclaimed as the party’s candidate for the Asawase Constituency as some leaders of the party said they had not received the notice of injunction on the poll.

Speaking to the media after the court case, the lawyer for Manaf Ibrahim, Osborn Nana Freduah Agyemang insisted that the party and the Electoral Commission were adequately served.

“There is record to prove that the NPP party had been served with the process. There is record to prove that the Electoral Commission has been served but unfortunately, the third defendant that is Alidu Seidu, there is no evidence of his service. The court wants us to ensure that we put on the court records, proof of service on him, so we are adjourning to the 31st of October so that we can come to court when we are able to prove the service on Alidu,” the lawyer said.

Manaf Ibrahim who was also in court said he still considers himself as an aspirant.

He is thus requesting that the acclamation of Alidu Seidu by delegates of the party should be reversed.

Meanwhile, some Asawase NPP delegates who are supporters of Manaf Ibrahim and were present in court say they are confident that the case will help ensure justice is served in the matter.
