Non Governmental Organisations, The Feminine Network and For Every Drop organised a menstrual hygiene forum for young girls last Friday.
The forum also saw the donation of about 20 boxes of sanitary pads to 59 students of Alorkpem school in Ada.
Each student received a total of five sanitary pads.
The forum also entailed an extensive education about reproductive health rights.
The Assistant Headmaster for the school, Mr. Samuel Awuku expressed his gratitude for the gesture and called on more philanthropists and NGOs to emulate this by extending a helping hand to students.
Founder of one of the NGOs – The Feminine Network, Marian Ansah said the organizations were inspired to undertake such a project to support young girls without the financial capacity to afford sanitary pads.
“We intend providing opportunities for girls in diverse ways and this is just one of the projects we embarked on to successfully achieve that goal. Our basic aim is to ensure gender parity and tackle obstacles that prevent women and young girls from achieving their dreams,” Ms. Ansah added.
