Six Junior High Schools (JHS) have made it to the quarter-final stage of Citi TV‘s Best Brain quiz competition after their hard-fought preliminary level contests.
These schools will now be paired against each other for an anticipating nerve-wracking quarter-finals which begin this Saturday, November 16, 2019.
The three schools that win their contest will move to the next level which is the project stage where the two higher-scoring schools will book a place in the grand finale.
It was such a great display of riveting knowledge of the subjects being taught the contestants amidst the thrills, surprises, disappointment as well as wins and losses during the first round of the competition.
But after the first clash, here is the list of the six schools ready to battle again and how they advanced to the quarter-finals:
1. Christ the King International School
Christ the King is the school with the highest score in the competition so far. They scored an overwhelming point of 89 and got Christian Home School kicked out with their 52 points.
2. Silicon Valley International School
Silicon Valley triumphed over Corpus Christi School with a-19-point margin. They amassed a total of 84 points whilst Corpus Christi went home with 65 points.
3. Happy Kids School
Happy Kids School qualified by beating their counterparts from the Adenta Community School.
They won by a hair’s breadth by garnering 83 points with Adenta Community School following closely with 81 points at the end of proceedings.
4. Ministry of Health (MoH) Basic School
MoH Basic School knocked out Unique Child School. The scores at the end of all three rounds of that contest stood at 75 points for Unique Child and 82 points for MoH Basic School.
5. Kay-Billie-Klaer International School
Kay-Billie-Klaer shattered the dreams of the Royale Shakespeare International School. The ‘international school El Classico’ contest which was fiercely competed ended with Kay –Billie-Klaer managing to win 75 points leaving Royale Shakespeare behind with 68 points.
6. St. Martin de Porres School
The contestants from St. Martin de Porres School secured their spot after thrashing All Saints Anglican School. The all-girls team obtained a final score of 71 as against All Saint’s 67.
Best Brain; where knowledge lives
Best Brain is an educational show that brings Junior High Schools together in a classic quiz competition.
It began with 12 schools locking horns for the top spot and for bragging rights, as the school which
grooms Ghana’s best brains.
Now, six schools have won their preliminary contest and are at the next stage.
