The 1994 class of Wesley Girls High School has donated 20 pieces of mattresses valued at 12,000 Ghana cedis to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Coast.
Addressing the media during the ceremony, a spokesperson for WGHS 94, Anita Keteku Arkutu, expressed appreciation to Latex Foam Ghana Limited for providing the medium-sized leather-covered mattresses for donation to the hospital.
She said as part of celebrating 25 years after graduation, the 1994 year group, has launched a project to give back to the community by refurbishing the female ward of the hospital which is 7 kilometres away from the school.
The Public Relations Officer of Latex Foam, Gifty Appiah, said the company is proud to partner the year group in their effort to improve the conditions of mental health patients.
She said the company, as part of its corporate social responsibility, will continue to support the health sector to complement government’s efforts in improving healthcare.
Established in 1965, the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital is a 500-bed mental health facility for patients who are admitted from Central, Western and Ashanti Regions.
