The Ghana National Fire Service has defended the dismissal of some seven personnel who violated the disciplinary Regulations of the Service.
The seven were expelled for alleged misconduct and abandoning their post for more than ten days.
Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Fire Service, Divisional Officer Grade-II, Ellis Robinson Okoe cautioned other personnel to be mindful of their conduct while in their line of duty.
“They had vacated their post for a very long time that is why we dismissed them. The Fire Service has its disciplinary regulations that spell out our rules. Ignorance of the law, they say is no excuse. Before we sacked them, we had given them several warnings so that they can’t say they are not aware. We had to do this so that it serves as a deterrent. I want to advise all service personnel to get acquainted with our rules and regulations. We need responsible and disciplined people to do our work.”
The affected personnel were sacked for the various offences between January last year and April 2019.
Two others were also interdicted during the same period and facing service enquiry.
